My Story

What is your understanding of the role and authority of a constable in Calhoun County?
The Constable is a constitutionally established peace officer and officer of the court. In Calhoun County, the Constable is responsible for serving civil process, enforcing state law, carrying out court orders, and providing courtroom security when needed. The Constable may also assist with patrol and warrant service. The office operates independently but works alongside the courts and other law enforcement agencies. The authority of the Constable is set by statute and requires proper training, ethical conduct, and responsible use of public funds. When operated correctly, the Constable’s Office supports the local justice system.

What relevant experience do you bring to this position?
I previously served as Constable and worked to rebuild the office to function properly. During that time, I helped restore civil process service, implemented policies, and managed the office responsibly. I currently serve as a law enforcement supervisor with experience in patrol operations, investigations, evidence handling, report review, and coordination with other agencies. I have supervised officers and handled a variety of incidents that required attention to legal requirements and procedures. This background has provided me with both operational and administrative experience relevant to serving as Constable.

How would you work with other law enforcement agencies and the courts?
I believe cooperation with other agencies and the courts is important for effective law enforcement. I have experience working with sheriff’s offices, police departments, prosecutors, clerks, and judges to help ensure cases move forward appropriately. As Constable, I would maintain communication with the courts, focus on timely service of civil process, and assist with courtroom and warrant duties when required. I understand the importance of following proper procedures, respecting jurisdictional boundaries, and working professionally with partner agencies to support the justice system in Calhoun County.

What would be your priorities if elected?
My priority would be ensuring the Constable’s Office operates in a consistent and lawful manner. This includes maintaining required training, providing reliable civil process service, following clear policies, and being responsible with public resources. I would work to address any existing backlogs, maintain proper records, and ensure the office meets statutory requirements. I would also focus on being responsive to the courts and the public. The goal is to have an office that functions reliably and fulfills its duties on a daily basis.

What distinguishes you from the other candidates in this race?
I have prior experience serving as Constable and currently work in a supervisory law enforcement role. I am familiar with the duties of the office, including civil process and coordination with the courts. My background includes both administrative and field experience. I believe this experience allows me to step into the role with an understanding of the responsibilities involved and work toward maintaining a stable and functional Constable’s Office for Precinct 4.
