Election Central guide: Local races and voting information
Candidates weigh in on local issues
Voters across Calhoun County will have the opportunity to weigh in on a wide range of local offices during the March 3, 2026 primary election, from countywide judicial races to precinct-level offices.
To help voters compare candidates, this election guide includes questionnaires submitted by candidates seeking local office. Each race featured a set of questions tailored specifically to the duties and responsibilities of the office for which the candidates are running.
All candidates within each specific race were sent the same questionnaire at the same time and were given the same deadline to respond. Each questionnaire included clearly defined word-count limits for each response. The questionnaires are published free of charge as a public service to voters.
Not all candidates chose to participate. Only responses received by the stated deadline are included in this guide.
In cases where candidates slightly exceeded the word limits, limited leeway was allowed to complete a sentence. Responses that significantly exceeded the established limits were truncated at the nearest sentence to comply with space constraints and to ensure fairness among candidates.
Candidate responses are published as submitted. No responses were edited for content, tone, punctuation, or grammar. In cases where responses exceeded established word limits, only the excess text was removed as described above.
Within each race, the order in which candidates appear in this section was determined by a random drawing and may differ from the official ballot order. Ballot order itself is set by election officials and is not determined by the newspaper.
Candidates are identified by party affiliation as listed on the ballot.

By presenting uniform questions, consistent deadlines, and clear word limits, the guide aims to provide a fair and accessible comparison of candidates across each race.
