My Story
What is your understanding of the role and authority of a constable in Calhoun County?
I was appointed by Calhoun County Commissioners Court as Constable Precinct 4. The absolute responsibility of the Constable Precinct 4 office is to treat our residents, families, guest and visitors with respect, compassion and kindness as appointed constable. The Constable Pct 4 position shall provide Court Security and to bailiff Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 Court proceedings and service court documents and civil paperwork’s. Furthermore, being a Texas Peace Officer involves preserving the peace, protecting life and property, enforcing laws and responding to emergencies all while respecting constitutional rights with integrity.
What relevant experience do you bring to this position?
I started my law enforcement career in 1988. I have held positions as Chief of Police, Chief Deputy, Investigator, Field Training Officer and Sergeant of Patrol. I hold a Master Peace Officer License and many more, but these positions, certificates and licenses didn’t make me the Law Enforcement Officer I am today. My experience is based on getting out of bed every day and or night like so many of you and to help others in need. If it’s a victim of a crime I made sure they received every inch of care, compassion and provided with lawful treatment and protection.
How would you work with other law enforcement agencies and the courts?
I have and do currently work with all law enforcement offices in Calhoun County including, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Seadrift Police Department, Calhoun County ISD Police Department, constable offices and Justice of the Peace Courts. I have established a close working relationship with the County Attorney’s Office who greatly assist me with my many questions helping me prepare for court proceedings and law interpretations. I depend on local and State law Enforcement Offices in the area forming networks with the multitude of resources and assets. When I am called upon, I will be there. If you need an answer, we shall find the right answer or someone who knows!
What would be your priorities if elected?
My first priority is to treat everyone in Precinct 4 with respect, compassion and kindness while fulfilling the duties of the office, including court security, bailiff duties for Justice of the Peace Precinct 4, and serving civil process. I will preserve the peace, protect life and property, enforce laws, and respond to emergencies while respecting constitutional rights with integrity.
What distinguishes you from the other candidates in this race?
I can only speak for myself. I have worked 38 consecutive years of law enforcement. I believe in my heart the main reason I lasted 38 years in Law Enforcement is because of compassion and respect I give others. I am in a position of authority and shall not abuse you with my authority. You, your family, friends guest and our visitors deserve respect, to be heard, to be treated with dignity and kindness!
